The simple facts of Energy.

  1. Avoid using cars — walk, cycle or use public transportation whenever possible.
  2. Avoid anything battery operated (or use rechargables or solar rechargables if batteries are unavoidable).
  3. Buy locally — not only is it good for the local economy, it will save energy because products haven’t traveled across the globe to get to you.

Simple steps in the Office.

  1. Implement purchasing policies that consider the environmental record of companies you are buying goods and services from.
  2. Use stick-type glues or basic white glue. Avoid glues and cements that emit the smell of solvents (ie. rubber cement, hobby glue).
  3. Use correction tape that covers errors or lifts them off without the use of solvents. When you must use fluid, use the water based type made for photocopiers.

H2O, Water, Drinking...

  1. Don’t let the water run while doing dishes, brushing teeth, and etc.
  2. If you must use a dishwasher, only do full loads and use the econo setting. To save energy, stop the machine after the rinse and open the door to let the dishes air dry.
  3. Keep a covered container of water in the fridge for drinking - you won’t have to run the tap until the water is cold every time you want a drink.
